Overview
Get started with Dental implant verification in five minutes. This quick-start guide covers the essential steps to perform your first Sheffield test using the metal link verification system, transforming resin jig uncertainty into metal-precise confidence.
What You'll Need
- verification jig kit
- Hex driver (compatible with your dental implant system)
- Torque wrench (10-15 Ncm)
- Explorer or dental probe
- Magnification (loupes or microscope)
Step-by-Step
Open Your Kit
Remove the Dental implant verification links and screws from sterilized packaging. Identify link lengths printed on each component.
Expose the Implants
Remove the dental provisional or healing dental abutments from all dental implant positions. Clean the implant platforms.
Measure Spans
Estimate inter-implant distances. Select links that span each gap with adequate screw engagement (minimum 2mm per side).
Connect the Links
Thread verification screws through link holes into implants. Connect all positions into a rigid chain. Finger-tighten.
Sheffield Test
Torque ONE distal screw to 10-15 Ncm. Check ALL other interfaces for gaps. Repeat from opposite side. Passivity = no gaps.
Tips & Best Practices
- Start with the longest spans first when selecting link sizes
- A fully passive jig clicks into place without resistance
- Photograph your first successful Sheffield test for reference
- Keep the Quick-Start card chairside during initial cases
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Rushing the process
Take time to evaluate each interface. Verification accuracy cannot be rushed.
Skipping interface inspection
Every non-torqued interface must be examined. Missing one gap invalidates the test.
Using wrong link sizes
Links that are too short or long compromise verification accuracy. Measure before connecting.
